ElektroG Guarantee

The insolvency-proof guarantee is a statutory safeguard under § 7 of the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG). It ensures that take-back and disposal of your equipment remain financed even in the event of insolvency – and it is a precondition for registration with stiftung ear.

The guarantee comes from us directly. ECOPV-EU GmbH operates a producer guarantee system approved by stiftung ear, listed in the Liste zugelassene Herstellergarantiesysteme under the system name Authorized Representative Guarantee. You can therefore obtain the guarantee here even if registration and authorised representation are already arranged elsewhere – with no package lock-in and no second contracting party.

Who these packages are for:

  • Producers with an establishment in Germany who are registered with stiftung ear themselves and only need the guarantee certificate.
  • Authorised representatives acting for producers without a German establishment. The guarantee is provided per device category and per represented producer: anyone representing several producers needs several certificates accordingly.

We provide the guarantee per device category as a tonnage package – including buffer and guarantee year. Guarantee years 2024, 2025 and 2026 are available:

  • Large and small appliances
  • Screen devices
  • Heat exchangers
  • Lamps and gas discharge lamps
  • Small IT and telecommunications equipment
  • Large and small photovoltaic modules

Guarantee certificate within 24 hours. Prices quoted are net; stiftung ear fees are not included.

For planned volumes above 10 t per device category we prepare an individual quote – send us your volumes per device category.

Unsure about classification? Assigning a device to the correct category determines both package and price. If you are not certain which category your device belongs to, we clarify this with you beforehand.

Why a guarantee is required. It secures the disposal of your equipment even if you are no longer on the market as a producer. That is why it is a precondition of registration and must be renewed annually. The guarantee is provided per device category, not per company: anyone distributing equipment across several categories needs several packages accordingly.

What happens without valid proof. Before it is granted: the registration application will not be approved – and without registration a distribution ban applies. After it is granted: if the guarantee lapses and is not renewed, stiftung ear can revoke the registration. Marketplaces block the affected listings as soon as the registration number becomes invalid. Renewal is the point most often overlooked in practice.
