Collection: Batteries (BattDG)

The German Battery Act (BattDG) governs placing on the market, take-back and environmentally sound disposal of batteries and accumulators. Since 18 August 2025, producers without a German branch must appoint an authorised representative in Germany under the EU Battery Regulation.

Our services at a glance:

  • Registration with stiftung ear and ongoing account management
  • Authorised representative for producers without a German establishment
  • Connection to an approved take-back system
  • Collection and recycling of waste portable batteries
  • Reporting and information duties towards the Federal Environment Agency
  • Notification of additional brands and battery types
  • Deregistration of individual registrations

Quantity limits differ per package. For industrial, starter or vehicle batteries, please contact us directly.

Which package fits? Three cases need to be distinguished: you have a German branch and an existing ear account; you have a branch but no account yet; or you have no branch and require an authorised representative. Each case has its own package, priced accordingly.

If you also distribute electrical equipment, the WEEE obligations apply in parallel. For changes to your registration data see Master Data & Invoice Change.

Two building blocks, one provider. Producers without a German branch need an authorised representative and membership in a producer responsibility organisation (OfH). ECOPV-EU GmbH is both: your authorised representative and a licensed OfH in its own right. Most providers can only do one of the two and refer you elsewhere for the rest.
