Collection: Single-Use Plastics (EWKFondsG)

The German Single-Use Plastics Fund Act (EWKFondsG) requires producers of certain single-use plastic products to register and pay a special levy into the single-use plastics fund (DIVID).

Affected product categories include:

  • Takeaway food containers and drinking cups
  • Wet wipes
  • Balloons
  • Tobacco products with filters and separately sold filters

Producers without an establishment in Germany must appoint an authorised representative to assume the EWKFondsG obligations.

Our two services work together: the authorised representation covers ongoing representation. The annual volume report records product categories and weights and settles the levy under §§ 12, 13 EWKFondsG. Submit your volumes in kilograms – we collect the fees and remit them to DIVID.

Mind the sequence. Registration cannot be completed without an appointed authorised representative, and volume reporting presupposes a completed registration. Order the representation first.

Many producers of single-use plastic products are simultaneously subject to the Packaging Act: see Packaging Compliance. To establish which sets of obligations apply to your range overall, see Consulting & Training.
