OfH participation for portable batteries – administration and PIN (2026)

Since 15 January 2026, every registration in the battery register of the stiftung ear must be assigned to an approved producer responsibility organisation (OfH). If you are already registered and only need that assignment, you can book it on its own here – without a full service package.

When you need exactly this service

You already hold your registration in the battery register – either through your own establishment in Germany or through an authorised representative you have already appointed. What is missing is the connection to an OfH. That is precisely what this offer provides:

• Admission to the approved OfH of ECOPV-EU GmbH for waste portable batteries
• Administration of your participation during the calendar year
• PIN to be entered in the ear portal – this is how your registration evidences the OfH assignment
• Nationwide take-back, ADR-compliant logistics and proper recycling of waste batteries
• Reporting of collected and recovered volumes and evidence of the statutory recovery rates

ECOPV-EU GmbH is itself an OfH approved under § 8 BattDG in conjunction with Article 58 of Regulation (EU) 2023/1542. You do not need a further contracting party for this.

Scope and conditions

Who is this for?

• Producers with an establishment in Germany who are registered themselves and only need the OfH assignment
• Producers without an establishment who have already appointed another authorised representative whose service does not include an OfH
• Companies whose ear account was blocked on 15 January 2026 because only the OfH assignment was missing

Not the right fit?

• You have no registration yet and no establishment in Germany – you then need the full package including an authorised representative: Portable battery service package with authorised representative (280 € net, OfH already included).
• You place other battery categories on the market – industrial, electric vehicle, LMT or starter batteries: Battery service package for industrial, electric vehicle, LMT and starter batteries.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly is an OfH?

A producer responsibility organisation takes back waste batteries nationwide and finances collection, transport and recycling. The BattDG obliges every producer to join an approved OfH. Since 15 January 2026 the assignment must be evidenced in the ear portal; without it the registration is considered incomplete.

What is the PIN for?

The PIN is the evidence of your participation. You enter it in your account in the ear portal; the stiftung ear reconciles it with the OfH's records. Without a PIN on file, the assignment remains open.

Why is the recycling contribution of 20 € not included?

Because it depends on the volume you actually have taken back and is billed separately. The contribution of 20 € covers the take-back of up to 30 kg of waste batteries. In our full portable battery service package it is included in the price.

Does this also apply to industrial or vehicle batteries?

No. This offer covers waste portable batteries. For industrial batteries, electric vehicle batteries, LMT batteries and starter batteries, OfH participation is already included in the package for those categories.

My ear account is blocked. Is this service enough?

If only the OfH assignment was missing: yes. If the chemical system or tax ID are also missing, we add those details – tell us when booking so we can handle it in one go.
