In Austria we register electrical equipment, batteries and packaging individually; for the electrical equipment / batteries package, you select the waste stream directly in the product. Manufacturers without a branch in Austria need an authorised representative on site – that role is performed by ECOPV-EU GmbH, based in Salzburg.

Registrations are submitted in quarterly batches, so allow three to four months of processing time. That is the longest lead time in this overview – if you want to be ready to sell by the turn of the year, start in late summer at the latest. Ongoing reporting is then annual.
Since 12 August 2026 Amazon has been verifying packaging registration in every EU country in which you sell or store. Precisely because of the long lead time, Austria is the country where putting it off is most expensive.

Which package do I need for Austria?
Electrical equipment and batteries: 500 € per waste stream; packaging: 400 €. In each case net per calendar year. If you ship a device with a battery in a cardboard box, all three waste streams must be registered.
Why does registration in Austria take three to four months?
Because applications there are submitted in quarterly batches rather than continuously. That is the longest lead time of any country in this overview – in the Netherlands electrical equipment is sometimes registered within two weeks. The figure is a value based on experience, not a guaranteed outcome.
When do I have to order to be ready to sell in Austria at the turn of the year?
By late summer at the latest. With a lead time of three to four months, Austria is the country where putting it off is most expensive: anyone who starts only after a listing has been blocked loses the entire processing time as lost revenue.
Is my German registration enough for Austria, given that German is spoken there too?
No – that is the most common misconception about Austria. The shared language does not change the fact that Austria is a separate member state with its own registers, its own deadlines and its own authorised representative requirement. A German WEEE number or LUCID registration has no effect in Austria.
How much recycling contribution is included in the Austrian packages?
200 € of minimum recycling per waste stream in the electrical equipment / batteries package, 90 € of base recycling in the packaging package. Up to those amounts the contribution is covered by the package price. Beyond that it is invoiced according to the volumes you report; authority fees are not included.
What does a subsequent notification or deregistration cost in Austria?
30 € per procedure. That applies to an additional brand, an additional device or battery category, and equally to deregistering a registration. Reporting in Austria is annual.
