Belgium requires a separate registration for electrical equipment, batteries and packaging. Manufacturers without a branch in Belgium need an authorised representative on site – that role is performed by our group company ECOPV srl, based in Uccle near Brussels.

Which package do I need for Belgium?
One package per waste stream – there is no combined package for Belgium. Electrical equipment costs 200 €, batteries 270 €, packaging 220 €, in each case net per calendar year. If you ship a device with a battery in a cardboard box, you need all three.
How often do I have to report in Belgium – and why is it different for batteries?
Electrical equipment quarterly, packaging annually, and for batteries it depends on category and quantity: portable batteries annually, industrial batteries monthly. If you place more than 10,000 portable batteries per year on the market, however, reporting is monthly. Belgium therefore has the least uniform reporting frequencies in this overview. Does the Belgian battery package also cover industrial batteries?
Yes – the registration is the same, only the reporting frequency is higher. Portable batteries are reported annually (monthly above 10,000 units per year), industrial batteries monthly. The package price of 270 € and the included base recycling of 20 € are identical in both cases.
When should I order for Belgium?
Allow around three and a half months if packaging is involved. Electrical equipment and batteries take 6 to 8 weeks, packaging 8 to 14 weeks. These are values based on experience, not guaranteed outcomes. Because the range for packaging is so wide, starting early pays off here in particular.
How much recycling contribution is included in the Belgian packages?
20 € of base recycling each for electrical equipment and batteries, 100 € of minimum recycling for packaging. Up to those amounts the contribution is covered by the package price; beyond that it is invoiced according to the volumes you report. Authority fees are not included in any of the packages.
What does a subsequent notification or deregistration cost in Belgium?
20 € per procedure. That applies to an additional brand, an additional device or battery category, and equally to deregistering a registration.
