Photovoltaic modules are electrical devices subject to registration. stiftung ear distinguishes them by size.
Large modules have at least one outer dimension over 50 cm – which covers virtually all standard modules.
When do you need this package – and when not?
- Yes – your modules for roof or ground-mounted systems exceed 50 cm.
- Yes – the modules can also reach private end customers.
- No – all dimensions are under 50 cm: small PV modules, from €55.
- No – the modules go exclusively into commercial projects (b2b).

How many modules make up one tonne?
At 20 kg per module that is roughly 50 units per tonne – calculate with your actual module weight.
Do I need a guarantee for purely commercial projects?
No. § 7 ElektroG only applies if the modules can also be used privately.
