The Netherlands is the most straightforward market in our portfolio: as long as you sell through an entity established in the EU, no authorised representative is required. You register directly and we handle registration and reporting. That makes the packages considerably cheaper than in most other EU countries. If you sell directly through a non-EU entity (for example a Chinese company), whether a Dutch authorised representative must be appointed is still under discussion – please contact us first for an assessment.

⚠️ Industrial batteries over 1 kg (including home energy storage batteries) are not covered by this fast track. They are still subject to obligations in the Netherlands, but they currently cannot be reported through the usual route – please contact us first for an assessment.
For electrical equipment and batteries, registration is often complete within two to four weeks – faster than in any other country in this overview. Packaging takes longer; allow eight to twelve weeks here.
Since 12 August 2026 Amazon has been verifying packaging registration in every EU country in which you sell or store. The Netherlands is one of the countries where listings without a valid number are deactivated immediately.

Frequently asked questions about the Netherlands
Which package do I need for the Netherlands?
Single or combined – the Netherlands is the cheapest market in this overview. Electrical equipment and batteries cost 100 € each, packaging 50 €. The combined packages electrical equipment + packaging and batteries + packaging cost 120 € each, in each case net per calendar year. If you ship a device with a battery in a cardboard box, combine electrical equipment + packaging with the separate batteries package.
Is a Dutch combined package worth it?
Yes: 120 € instead of 150 € – you save 30 €. Anyone shipping electrical equipment in a cardboard box needs both registrations anyway. The single package is only right if you genuinely place just one stream on the market.
Why do the combined packages take 8 to 12 weeks when electrical equipment alone is done in 2 to 4?
Because packaging is the slow part, and a combined package is only complete with the last registration. Electrical equipment and batteries are often registered in the Netherlands within two to four weeks – faster than in any other country in this overview. Packaging takes 8 to 12 weeks. If you need to start quickly, book the streams separately: the fast stream is then not tied to the slow one.
Does the Dutch packaging package include a recycling contribution?
No – for packaging the recycling contributions are not included and are invoiced after your report. Electrical equipment and batteries, by contrast, include 30 € of base recycling each. That also applies inside the combined packages: the 30 € covers the electrical equipment or battery share there, not the packaging.
How often do I have to report in the Netherlands?
Annually, for every waste stream and in the combined packages too. We keep the deadlines, you supply only the volumes. Together with the fact that no authorised representative is currently needed, that is why the Dutch packages are so much cheaper than in the other countries.
What does a subsequent notification or deregistration cost in the Netherlands?
20 € per procedure – for adding a brand or category just as for deregistering a registration. You do not need a new annual contract for it.
