What does this brand notification cover?

Report an additional brand to stiftung ear (with branch): €69 net per brand.

A WEEE registration applies per brand and per equipment category. A new brand therefore needs its own registration.

This service covers exactly one brand notification: 69 € net, for producers with a branch in Germany.

The equipment category itself stays the same – only a name is added.

What are the key facts at a glance?

Price 69 € net per notification, plus VAT
Scopeone brand in an already registered equipment category
Requirementan active WEEE service package, branch in Germany
Filingwithin 3 working days once your details are complete
Time to registration 6–8 weeks (an empirical value, not a guaranteed outcome)
Several brandsadd this item to the cart as many times as needed
New equipment category instead of a brand 99 € per notification
Not includedstiftung ear fees – charged directly by the authority

Is this service right for you?

  • Yes – you have a branch in Germany and an active service package with us.
  • Yes – you are introducing a new brand: own label, private label or second brand.
  • Yes – the device stays the same, only the label on the rating plate changes.
  • No – it is a new equipment category: Report an equipment category (99 €).
  • No – you have no German branch: Report a brand without a branch, same price.
  • No – you exceed your volume limits: Additional volume package (299 €).

What counts as a separate brand?

What matters is the name under which the device reaches the end user.

  • Own label – your own name on the rating plate.
  • Private label – you have it manufactured and put your label on it.
  • Second brand – the same device under a second name.
  • Acquired brand – from a purchase or a licence.

A changed type designation within the same brand is not a new brand.

When does a brand have to be reported – and when not?

Due before the first sale under the new name – even for an identical device.

Not due for a new model, a new colour or changed packaging under a known brand.

Volume changes run through the volume report, not through a notification.

What happens if the brand is missing?

  • Marketplaces check brand by brand. A number for brand A does not release brand B.
  • Fines of up to EUR 100,000 per infringement under the ElektroG.
  • Ban on distribution for the brand concerned until registration is demonstrated.
  • Confiscation of profits – turnover from the unreported brand can be seized.
  • Warning letters from competitors, with legal and court costs.
  • Liability of your dealers – reselling unregistered devices is an offence in itself.

Which services are included?

IncludedNot included
  • Check whether the equipment category is already registered
  • Recording of the brand name and rating plate details
  • Filing through your ear account
  • Handling of queries from the authority
  • Inclusion in the ongoing volume report
  • Forwarding of the registration number to you
  • stiftung ear fees – the authority invoices you directly
  • The service package itself – this service supplements it
  • Statutory VAT
  • A new equipment category (99 €)
  • The deregistration (15 €)
  • Volumes above your allowance (299 €)

The guarantee under § 7 ElektroG is provided per equipment category, not per brand.

If the equipment category stays the same, the new brand needs no additional guarantee.

How does it work and what deadlines apply?

  1. Booking. One item per brand – three brands, three times in the cart.
  2. Data collection. Brand name, equipment category concerned, rating plate details.
  3. Filing within 3 working days once your details are complete.
  4. Registration by stiftung ear, in our experience within 6–8 weeks.
  5. Fees. The authority then invoices you directly.
  6. During the year. The new brand runs in our volume report.

Before the first sale the registration must be in place. Allow 6–8 weeks.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my registration number not cover the new brand?

Because the number is tied to the brand, not to your company.

The register holds every combination of brand and equipment category as its own entry.

Marketplaces match the number against the brand of the listing.

Does the variant without a German branch cost more?

No – both cost 69 €. Only our role differs.

With a branch you remain the producer and we file on your behalf.

Without a branch our authorised representative takes on the producer obligations.

What matters is your company structure, not the price.

A new brand and a new equipment category – what do I book?

Then you need the equipment category notification (99 €).

It covers the new combination in full; a second booking is not needed.

How many notifications do I need?

Combinations are counted, not products.

Two brands in the same equipment category are two notifications at 69 €.

Five models of one brand in one category are not a single one.

Is the price annual or one-off?

One-off per notification. The 69 € apply to the procedure.

Ongoing support runs through your service package.

What if I stop carrying the brand later?

Then we deregister it – until that point the reporting obligations continue.

The deregistration costs 15 € per registration, official fees included.
