What counts as one registration?
Counted is each combination of one brand and one equipment category.
- Three brands in the same equipment category are three deregistrations.
- One brand in two equipment categories is likewise two.
- Ten models of one brand in one equipment category are one.
Give us the brand name with each item – otherwise which registration is meant cannot be determined.
What keeps running while you have not deregistered?
- The volume report. It stays due even when the volume is zero.
- The guarantee under § 7 ElektroG. It has to be evidenced anew each year.
- Collection orders. stiftung ear can assign you one at any time.
- The service costs. Your package renews although no turnover stands against it.
- The fine risk. Missing reports are administrative offences in their own right.
A collection order reaches you regardless of whether you are still selling.

How does it work and what deadlines apply?
- Booking. One item per registration, with brand name and equipment category.
- Clear remaining stock. After the deregistration every sale would be an infringement.
- Final volumes. You report the quantities sold up to the cut-off date.

- Processing. stiftung ear decides how long it takes.
- Confirmation. We send you the completion for your records.

Frequently asked questions
I sold nothing this year. Deregister or file a nil return?
A nil return, as long as you are not stopping for good.
Your registration number stays in place and you can resume selling at any time.
After a deregistration you would need a complete new registration.
Why does the battery deregistration cost 48 € instead of 15 €?
Because it additionally includes the exit from the producer responsibility organisation.
For electrical equipment there is no OfH – the guarantee runs through our guarantee system.
Both prices include the official fees.
Will I still get collection orders after the deregistration?
They are assigned for as long as the registration is running.
Once the procedure is complete, that assignment ends for this registration.
That is exactly why deregistering early pays off, rather than years later.
Does my guarantee under § 7 ElektroG end with it?
For the following year no new evidence has to be provided.
The guarantee is given annually per equipment category while the registration exists.
Devices already on the market remain covered by it.
Do I have to deregister my batteries separately?
Yes, if you are registered there. They are two registers with the same authority.
A WEEE deregistration has no effect in the battery register.

Can I pick the brand up again later?
Only through a new registration. The old number does not come back to life.
Allow 6–8 weeks again until the registration is in place.
