Battery Service Package – With Branch in Germany and ear Account (2026)

In short
For producers with a branch in Germany who already have an account in the battery register of stiftung ear. We take over the ongoing management of that account and all recurring obligations under the BattDG – for one calendar year. Neither an initial registration nor an authorised representative is required, which makes this the cheapest of the three battery packages.
If your account is blocked, the deadline of 15 January 2026 is the most likely reason: since then, every registration must be completed with chemical composition and tax ID and assigned to an approved producer responsibility organisation (OfH). ECOPV-EU GmbH is itself an approved OfH for waste portable batteries under § 8 BattDG in conjunction with Article 58 of Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 – we add the missing details and carry out the assignment.

Is this package right for you?
- Yes – your company has a branch in Germany, regardless of where the head office is.
- Yes – you already have an active account in the battery register of stiftung ear.
- Yes – your account was blocked on 15 January 2026 and you want to put it right.
- No – you do not have an account yet. Then you need the initial registration: package without ear account (215 €).
- No – you have no German branch. Then an authorised representative is mandatory: package with authorised representative.
- No – other battery categories. Our OfH approval covers waste portable batteries; for LMT batteries, starter batteries, industrial batteries and electric vehicle batteries, please talk to us first.
Why an existing account is no longer enough since 2026
The German Battery Act Implementation Act (BattDG) replaced the former Battery Act on 7 October 2025. If you were already registered back then, that registration does not simply carry over:
- Five battery categories instead of three – portable batteries, batteries for light means of transport (LMT), starter batteries, industrial batteries and electric vehicle batteries. Old registrations had to be reassigned.
- Chemical system and tax ID were not recorded in the old register and had to be added.
- OfH assignment became mandatory – previously only for portable batteries, now for all categories.
Accounts where this was missing on 15 January 2026 were blocked. A blocked account means your registration counts as not properly filed – with the same consequences as no registration at all.
What marketplaces and authorities want to see
- A valid registration number in the battery register – Amazon, eBay, Kaufland, OTTO and TEMU check it, including for devices with a built-in battery. A blocked registration shows up at the next check.
- Proof of OfH assignment – mandatory for every registration since 15 January 2026.
- Battery marking – the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol, chemical symbols for heavy metals.
- Consumer information – a notice on return options and separate collection.
What happens if the registration is not in order
- Fines of up to EUR 100,000 per infringement.
- Sales ban – until registration and OfH participation are demonstrated; marketplaces usually block the listings immediately.
- Confiscation of profits – turnover from non-compliant products can be seized.
- Competition-law warning letters from competitors, with legal and court costs.
- Liability along the chain – reselling improperly registered batteries is also an offence.

Process and deadlines
- Booking in the shop. With your purchase you grant us the authority required for the handling.
- Access and review. We look at your account: are chemical system and tax ID on file? Is an OfH assigned? Are brand and battery category still correct?
- Completion and OfH assignment. We add what is missing and carry out the assignment to our OfH. A blocked account is thereby back in order.
- Logistics. Containers and collection route are set up. From booking to full completion, plan for 1–3 weeks.
- During the year. Quantity reporting, evidence and correspondence with the authorities are on us.
Frequently asked questions
My ear account is blocked. Is this the right package?
Yes, if you have a German branch. On 15 January 2026, accounts were blocked where the chemical composition, the tax ID or the OfH assignment were missing. Those are exactly the gaps we close. Tell us when booking that your account is affected.
How do I know whether I already have a battery account?
A WEEE account alone is not enough. Electrical equipment and batteries run through the same authority but through separate registers. If you have so far only registered electrical equipment, the battery registration is missing – in that case the package without ear account is the right one. If you are unsure, we check before you book.
Why is this package cheaper than the one with initial registration?
Because the initial registration is not needed. The difference of 25 € is exactly that one step. Everything else – OfH connection, take-back, reporting, evidence – is identical in both packages.
I sell devices with a built-in battery. Does the BattDG apply to me?
Yes. The BattDG applies regardless of whether the battery is loose or built in. For the device itself you additionally need a WEEE registration under the ElektroG. Matching services: Electrical equipment (ElektroG / WEEE).
What do I still have to do after booking?
Give us access to your ear account and report your actual quantities. You tell us the weights and unit numbers placed on the market; we handle the notification to the authority. If brand, battery category or company data change, let us know.
I place more than one brand or several battery categories on the market.
Every combination of brand and battery category is a separate registration. The package covers one; further ones are booked at 69 € per notification: Report an additional brand / battery category.
What happens at the end of the year?
The price applies per calendar year. For subsequent years you receive a separate renewal invoice. If you permanently stop selling, we handle the deregistration – its price includes the official fees and the exit from the OfH.
